I wonder.. what is the meaning of promise?

chinese translation: 诺言.
definition: "A declaration assuring that one will or will not do something; a vow". (dictionary.com, 2007)

*sigh* if ones cannot do whatever they promise. please do not simply promise anyone! that will just make the other person disappointed, hurts or whatsoever.. well, okay.. once or twice should be alright. not all the time, okay people?? if cannot, just say cannot, rather than you promise, and then cannot do what you said. or keep postponing or whatever. that's not right. whatsoever the reason. that's not a right way to give excuse or whatever you call that. just do not give simply give promises to others...
